Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) are among India’s premier residential schools committed to developing future leaders with a strong foundation in academics, discipline, and physical fitness. Managed by the Ministry of Defence, RMS focuses on grooming students to excel in a military environment as well as in civilian life.
The official admission notification for RMS Class 6 and Class 9 for the academic year 2025-26 is now available. Aspirants can apply online via the official RMS website from August/September 2025, with the last date typically in mid-September. The Common Entrance Test (CET), which is the gateway to admission, is scheduled for December 2025.
Age for Class 6: Candidates must be between 10 and 12 years old as of March 31, 2026, and must be studying or have passed Class 5.
Age for Class 9: Candidates must be between 13 and 15 years old as of March 31, 2026, and must be studying or have passed Class 8.
Admission is open to both boys and girls.
Children of military personnel who were killed in action get a relaxation of six months in the upper age limit.
Online Application: Fill out and submit the application form with accurate documents on the official RMS website.
Entrance Exam (CET): The exam includes subjects like English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies for Class 9, with different subjects for Class 6.
Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for a personal interview to evaluate personality and communication skills.
Medical Examination: Candidates must clear a medical fitness test at designated military hospitals.
Final Merit List: Admission is granted based on combined scores from written tests, interviews, and medical fitness.
For Class 9 CET, the exam is split into two papers covering language, social science, mathematics, and science. The test is OMR-based, with a duration of 2.5 hours. Candidates must score a minimum of 50% in each paper to qualify.
Candidates must prepare documents such as birth certificates, school leaving certificates (countersigned by the District Education Officer), domicile certificates, and medical fitness certificates for the admission process.
Start preparation early, preferably a year in advance.
Regularly solve mock tests and previous years’ question papers.
Maintain physical fitness alongside academics.
Focus on building strong fundamentals in core subjects.

RMS Class 6 (Rashtriya Military Schools) is open for boys and girls aged 10-12 years as of March 31 of the admission year, featuring a rigorous academic and physical environment with admissions via a Common Entrance Test (CET).
Age: 10 to 12 years as on 31 March of the year of admission.
Candidates must have passed or be studying in Class V and should pass before joining.
Admission through OMR-based Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by an interview and medical examination.
Both boys and girls are eligible; 10% of seats or 30 maximum across all schools reserved for girls.
Application period usually September–October; CET held in December.
Four sections: English, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Intelligence (Reasoning), Mathematics.
50 questions per section, 200 marks total, 2.5 hours duration, OMR based.
No negative marking.
